I'm quite sure many will take a lot of components from SystemD and make them optional on systems, or decentralized. Not necessarily a bad thing 🙂

Yeah, I added that in 2018 for the Solaris 11.4.0 release since GNOME was looking for it, and I could see other FOSS looking for it in the codesearch.debian.net/search… results, and it was an easy update to adapt our script that generates /etc/release to output a second format as well.
